Therefore, with the aim of increasing road security, field experts are seeking a clear national strategy through which the level of road safety would be raised, but also the awareness of drivers.
Road safety expert Muhamet Krasniqi says the lack of a clear policy for road communication is affecting the lower level of security on the streets of Kosovo.
Kosovo needs clear policies for clear national strategies and regulations in order to solve this problem over a long period of time and not for a short period of time ... We are a state that we still don't have a national strategy for road traffic, at the moment that you don't have clear policies, and you don't have a way to navigate even the activities of institutions that have security mandates on the road, but other acts of safety on the road then we have this emptiness of actions and we do it over and over again and there.... We had a national strategy which unfortunately passed the time and we had no measures implemented by a strategy. The strategy is not done without a budget and should not be accompanied without a budget”, he said.

Professor Krasniqi, until he lists the cause of accidents in Kosovo, says a performance assessment should be made for the streets of Kosovo.
As he says, infrastructure in our country seems beautiful for the eye, but has never been tested to see how much they meet security protocols.
“Adents in road traffic are mainly due to the human factor, not complying with road traffic rules, not complying with traffic signs that lead to an accident, and if it comes to an accident that has developed high speed, then major opportunities for this accident to end with traffic victims. And the fact is that the road is a decontinator of road traffic accidents, but on our roads, the road network may look beautiful for the eye may look new and maintained, but we are not sure how much they meet safety protocols, how certain these roads are for the services they offer. And this should be measured and should become an assessment of road performance”, Krasniqi told Kosovo Press.
Naser Lajqi, chief of the teaching programme for communication and transportation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, says the use of old cars in Kosovo is the main cause of fatal accidents.
Professor Lajqi says if communications signs are respected the streets of Kosovo are safe.
Knowing that the car park in Kosovo is age-old where unfortunately you are witnessing that even those old GOLF2 vehicles that are often ending fatally because somehow even the elements of nature do not protect them either by driver or passengers, and somehow their time is seen as past and showing results. These new types of cars thanking intelligent elements and especially those of passive and active security that are advancing more and more, even when accidents are happening, but accidents themselves. We're focusing on accidents but we've got a lot of ourselves accidents because of the growth of the great speeds that our road infrastructure is unable to afford as such. And we're also having consequences and fatalities, but it's getting us that the vehicle factor when we've got the latest product is giving us a greater credibility for passengers or drivers themselves to have smaller injuries”, he said.
Based on some Kosovo Police statistics from January until this period of June, as a result of fatal accidents, 42 people have lost their lives.
