Fourniret died in a hospital safe unit in Paris, the public prosecutor said Monday, broadcasting Euronews.
Known as the <x1.Ogre of Ardennes”, Fourret died Monday afternoon at the age of 79, at the inter-regional hospital unit Pitié -Salpétrière (UHSI), in the French capital, he declared.
According to the prosecutor's statements in question, Fourniret had been admitted to this hospital since April 28th, in the care unit at the Fresnes prison where he had served two life sentences for the killing of eight young girls and women.
The prosecutor has also indicated that the exact cause of Fournire's death is being investigated by the 3rd district of judicial police.
