The Gjirokastra Foundation has won “European Heritage Prize” on May 25th, just from the Europe Nostra jury.
Thanks to the 20-year commitment of the Gjirokastra Foundation to save their city from decay, this World Heritage City is being saved through the presentation of the best principles and models for preservation and heritage. This work was undertaken in a challenging social and political context and in the spirit of community-based practices with a participation approach”. It is written in the reasoning about the award being given.
We remember that two letters have gone to the Europa Nostra organisation from Kosovo, one holding the firm of Prime Minister Kurti and President Osmani, and the other to ministers Ceku and Gervala in protest for the infamous list of the Decani Monastery, writes Periscopi.
And although this organisation is being protested by Albin Kurti, news that Europe Nostra has given this award to Gjirokastra has also been distributed by Albania's VV candidate, Boiken Abazi.
