At least 163 Palestinians and six Israeli police officers have been injured during the clashes in Jerusalem, Palestinian doctors and Israeli police said.
Most were injured in Al-Aqsa Mosque, where Israeli police used rubber bullets and friendly grenades, while Palestinians threw stones and bottles, writes BBC.
Tensions rose due to the possible expulsion of Palestinians from lands claimed by the Jews. The Red Moon has opened a field hospital to treat injured people.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in Jerusalem is one of the most important places for Muslims but also a holy place for Jews.
Israeli police said they have used the force to restore order because of the uprising of thousands of believers after prayers at night.
The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said 88 of the injured Palestinians were taken to the hospital after being hit with rubber-covered metal bullets. Police said some of the six injured officers needed medical treatment.
