A statement by Johann Rupert, chairman of the board of directors of the luxury goods corporation Richmont, says Elbaz was the creator of the famous Lanvan fashion house from 2001 to 2015 and expressed distrust and deep sadness over his early death, the AP reports.

Elbaz was born in 1961 in Morocco and grew up in Israel, where he traveled to New York in the 1980 ' s.
He became famous when in 1996 he took the lead in the famous Paris fashion house Guy La Roache.
Two years later, he became the creative director in Yves Saint Laurent, and since 2001, he has taken the lead in the Lanvan fashion house.
A Paris fashion magazine reported that Elbas died today in a Paris hospital without mentioning the source of this information.
