European Parliament rapporteur Violet Von Cremon said today that the European Union Council must lift visas for Kosovo as soon as possible.

In the debate over the progress report for Kosovo, Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia at the EP, Violet Von Croamon said it is time for the EU Council to liberalise visas for Kosovo.

“People in Kosovo impress me with their desire to be part of the EU, in fact no state in the region shows stronger stance for the EU than Kosovo, but this fact cannot be taken forever as a well-being if we do not fulfil our obligations, we lose credibility and trust, it is the last time the EU Council gives its promise of visa liberalisation. I towards the frustration of the citizens of Kosovo, I would like that the European Parliament could decide on this matter”, said Violet Von Croamon.

She also expressed her concern because of Kosovo's non-companion with anti-coronvirus vaccines.

“Another issue is Kosovo's lack of supply with (COVID-19) vaccines. The capacity of production in the EU is growing, and this should be used to supply Kosovo as soon as possible, the EU must support rapid vaculation of medical personnel and other more sensitive groups”, she said.

The rapporteur for Kosovo said that official Pristina should not abandon the process of dialogue, as mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia is a prerequisite for the membership of both countries in the European Union.

“As for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, the new government continues dialogue, despite difficulties Kosovo must remain committed to working with the EU about dialogue and not abandon dialogue. The mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia is the prerequisite for the two countries to join the European Union”, said Violet Von Croamon.
