The US Embassy in Podgorica has denounced a stance of the Montenegrin government in connection with the Srebrenica massacre. Srebrenica has also been recognised internationally as genocide, but it does not seem to have sufficed for Montenegro's government that has open pro-Serbian positions. Srebrenica has also been recognised internationally as genocide, but it does not seem to have sufficed for Montenegro's government that has open pro-Serbian positions.

This has exasperated the US Embassy in Podgorica, which clearly says it is “concerned” by comments “that cast doubts about what happened in Srebrenica in 1995”.

This embassy has called on the Government to call the Srebrenica massacre by the name of genocide.
