The famous Turkish singer Ibrahim Tatlises, also known in Greece and the Middle East, has been seriously injured during an attack in Istanbul.
Tatlises was shot in the head by an unidentified person Sunday evening. The 58-year-old had visited the offices of the Turkish private television channel Beyaz TV along with its spokesman.
Tatlises and the spokesman were taken to the hospital, where surgery was underwent.
The singer known as Emperor and one of the biggest artists in Turkey left the television channel after midnight and was riding in the car when the attack occurred.
According to media reports, armed men with Kalashnikov were seen leaving by car.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but some newspapers have written that Tatlises had been shot earlier on foot in 1990, while in 1998 he escaped another attack intact.
Ibrahim Tatlises, who is of Kurdish origin and from the town of Sanliurfa, has recorded more than 30 albums and played in a number of films.
He has also conducted a TV program.
