From that moment, Kosovo was declared independent until a new state was confirmed in the Balkans.
Independent Kosovo immediately began to be recognised by friendly states. This process became common in the first days after independence, while 117 states have so far recognised Kosovo. The last country to recognise Kosovo is Israel.
