Valentino Rossi was praised at the FIM Awards gala evening in Valencia as “MotoGP Legend”, an appreciation that, historically, is given several years after a career is completed.
Meanwhile, Doctori has taken it the same day he stopped racing, further confirming his greatness.
At the FIM MotoGP Awards, where pilots and teams of the year are rewarded, “Doctor” received the prize from Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports.
“Doctor” received “ovations” from all present, praised for his career after 26 fantastic seasons. With nine world titles on his behalf, 115 victories and 235 platforms in total, plus many other records, Rossi now boasts at a very special new price.
The champion from Tavolia joins a select group of 31 other pilots, called legend, and becomes the sixth Italian to reach the status of the Legander in MotoGP after Giacomo Agosti, Marco Lucchielli, Marco Simoncelli, Carlo Ubbeali and Franco Uncini.
