Witness in the Gucati and Haradinaj trial: “Packeta 3” contained protected witness names

Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague are continuing to hear the first witness from the Prosecutor's Office specialising against former heads of the KLA War Veterans Organisation. Zenka Pumper, who is the co-ordinator of the ZPS investigation, has responded today about the number 3 package containing the documents seized by O. VL- The KLA, which it said had names and evidence involving witnesses who were the object of protective measures.

The Witness has said that the “Paceta 3” included references to witness interviews conducted by Task Special Investigative Force and the Special Prosecutor's Office.

According to her, there were witness names and dates when interviews were carried out.

Prosecutor Valeria Bolic: Do you remember how these interviews of witnesses, including the name of the witness, are mentioned?

Witness Zenka Pumper: By and large, they had the name of the witness.

Witness Zenka Pumper: They were combined, some had dates.

The Witness has provided answers to prosecutor Valeria Bolic's questions, where, among other things, she said the package 3 included references, names, nicknames, and evidence involving witnesses who were subject to protective measures.

I've been given the prosecution's names, and these names have been given to me, and I've checked into our internal database, and I've seen the application, prosecutor's requests and court rules that give protection orders to individuals who have been identified in package 3. It's a little hard for me to confirm what the documents I've seen and checked. What I can say is that I have clearly determined whether the persons who were part of the 3rd package were either part of the command to provide protective measures for these individuals”, she said.

That's three witnesses.

Zenka Pumper has said the “Packeta 3” contained information given to SPS by the international organisation.

I have received the names of individuals and then these names are confirmed in package 3, and I've examined documents related to the same individuals from international organisations that have imposed restrictions on the extraction of individual materials or statements that were given to SPS by international organisations”, she said.

Prosecutor Valeria Bolic has even during this session submitted some documents to the witness, for which she has confirmed that she has written them.

For some of these documents, the prosecutor has asked the court to register as material evidence.

Zenka Pumper is the first witness in the trial against Hysni Gucatt and Nasim Haradinaj to be held at the Specialised Chambers in The Hague.

Former OVL-KLA leaders are accused of criminal acts against administration of justice, namely obstructing official persons in performing official duties, fearing witnesses, revenge, and violating the secret of the procedure.

In the organization they were running, there were several packages allegedly containing documents derived from the Special Prosecutor's Office. All of this they had made public through media conferences and other public presentations.

They have been arrested on 25 September 2020 in Pristina since they were even held at The Hague detention centre.
