The boy, 17, was identified as Alexander King, an eleventh grade student at the “Tarpon Springs”, writes Fox NewsReport Express.
Investigators said the police got a few calls for a man with a military-style gun pointing at cars. When the police arrived at the scene, the young man had raised his weapon and directed it to them, said regional police commander Jeff Young.
The police hid behind a car and shot several times toward the teenager, who was hit several times.
The officers had received reports that King might have AK-47 weapons, but the police commander said that, in fact, the young man had weapons used in some kind of game.
Police officers involved in the case have been punished with administrative vacations as authorities in Florida investigate the case.
The teenager killed in the past had 22 encounters with police, including an arrest for physical assault in 2017 on a school worker and a deadly gun attack in 2018.
