Schools are warning parents not to let their children watch Netflix horror series, “Squid Game” after some students were seen imitating the same scenes as in the series.
The South Korean series, which is currently the most watched show in the United States and the United Kingdom, focuses on an imaginary game show in which poor characters compete in a series of death-effected games to win a price of 27 million pounds (.7m euros), writes the DailyMail
The survival drama, which contains terrifying scenes of characters being hit in the head as well as organ trafficking, shows the racers taking part in the versions of traditional children's games, with winners advancing to the next stage.
Those who fail to qualify in the next game are executed by a masked team standing next to them with machine guns.
The controversial show has now influenced schools to ask parents to monitor what their children are looking at amid fears of imitating serial characters.
“Sandown School” in Deal, Kent, said teachers had given their students additional lessons on online safety and the dangers of seeing content that is not appropriate for age in response to the serial's popularity.
A school spokeswoman said: “We're always updating our advice to parents and children, it's something we're constantly updating”.
In response to this programme and others, we have provided additional lessons on violence and online damage”.
Goodwin Academy, another school in Deal, confirmed that her defence team had sent a letter to parents about concerns about the series.
A parent who lives in Deal wrote on social networks: “We've got two school cards that warn parents about the content of the quesquid Game” series.
