Kosovo police have expressed readiness to implement orders from Specialised Chambers operating in The Hague if such is required. Thus it is said in a response to the KP, as yesterday the media reported that Kosovo police did not provide sufficient guarantees for the freedom protection of KLA leaders in The Hague.
Kosovo's “Police are committed to fulfilling all legal obligations under its mandate and has all capacities to fulfil all duties and responsibilities, according to request from the prosecutor's office, court or specialised rooms”, the police response is said.
Police stress that “is able to implement in all aspects in practice orders or requests from Kosovo specialised chambers, if such is required by Kosovo Police”.
“Data of our regular tasks and operations is monitoring implementation of conditions set out for the provisional release of accused persons, pending trial process”, their response concludes.
Lawyers of former KLA leaders who are staying in custody at The Hague have demanded that the accused be protected in freedom, and for that they are addressed to the Kosovo Police to offer “garan”.
Unofficially, the PK has said it has expressed itself ready to comply with Special Court orders, but this has not yet been asked of police.
