The man, named Richard Barnett, 60, has been sent to custody in his native country and faces charges of surrounding a state institution building, prosecutors said.
He was arrested on the grounds that he had entered and stayed at banned sites. He is also accused of violent entrances and theft of public property, writes The Guardian.
Barnett leads a group supporting the right to use weapons, and according to The Washington Post, he has been identified as a white nationalist in a Facebook post, several days before the start of the riots.
Moreover, US Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen's taskman, Jeffrey Rosen, said the FBI would co-operate with Washington's Metropolitan Police to investigate the death of police official Brian Sicknick.
He died of injuries sustained during the protection of institutions and reportedly had been hit in the head with a bomb for extinguishing the fire. The FBI has called on anyone with information on the people who have participated in the unrest to present them.
