Three other people linked to the Australian Open, which will begin on February 8th, were tested positively with Covid in Melbourne, bringing the total number of cases to 10.
One player crashed because he was aboard a flight with another positive one on the plane. The other two cases are another player and his staff member.
Currently 72 players are in quarantine after being in contact with positive people on three charter flights that arrived from Abu Dhabi, Doha and Los Angeles.
Australian Director Open Craig Tie said 3,200 tests were conducted on more than 1,200 players, members of the tour and tour officials.
“We are on our sixth day and so far the numbers have been extremely low and if they are active cases go directly to the hotel,” he added. Tilly, then, criticised what he calls a “minority” players who continue to complain about conditions of hotel quarantine in social media.
The “kourically has a different approach to the way the virus is managed,” he continued. “We are proud of what we have done to protect the community. And we'll keep doing this. ”
