President Trump at a presidential campaign event to win a second mandate declared that “The US had prevented mass killings between Kosovo and Serbia”.
This statement is seen as problematic on the part of Vetevendosje, a political subject that has warned that if it comes to power it will not respect and implement the Washington Agreement reached on September 4th, Periscopi writes.
“While Kosovo, which has only Western geopolitical partners, the US and NATO, has a minimal army, has neither heavy arms nor enough budgets. How can poor and disarmed Kosovo endanger Serbia?” writes Vetevendosje.
Vetevendosje says peace is established when Serbia recognises Kosovo's independence, while denouncing (sic) “the rehabilitation of former Milosevic associates”.
Full statement:
Yesterday we heard the U.S. President speak at an electoral rally for <x0) mass killings between Kosovo and Serbia”, who have committed such crimes against each other, “for centuries”.
The belief that Kosovo's war is founded on ancient ethnic hatreds, as well as the substantial incompatibility between the Serbian and Albanian people, is wrong faith, which ignores the key role of Milosevic and his regime in causing war. Such faith also ignores the fact that War was ordered, not by “by citizens”, but by the armies of police, with clear command hierarchy and responsibility. The subject is featured by historian Noel Malcolm, “Kosova, a short story”, which has now become a lesson for KFOR military men, so it is Americans, stationed in Kosovo, and we think that it should be read even by diplomats and advisors of the president who deal with the Kosovo and Serbian issues. If the war in Kosovo had been of ethnic character, that is, ethnic difference has caused conflict, then it would never intervene NATO, and Miloshevqi could not have been held responsible by the US itself, NATO, the UN, of the world's major democratic countries. The truth is that behind the crimes of massacres was a state-run genocide device (which earlier attacked Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina), while on the other hand, the vulnerable Albanian people in Kosovo, who were protected alone. NATO could not stand back while Srebrenica was repeating itself in Kosovo.
This statement comes at a time when Serbia has the most armed army and the largest military budget in the Western Balkans region, and it buys weapons from the West, but what is worse, it constantly buys from Russia, and eventually became the first European country to buy weapons systems from China. While Kosovo, which has only Western geopolitical partners, the US and NATO, has a minimal army, has neither heavy arms nor enough budgets. How can poor and disarmed Kosovo endanger Serbia? It is Serbia that has claims in Kosovo, and its offensive weapons are not aimed at faraway countries of the world, but at the very neighbouring countries and primarily Kosovo.
With this rehabilitation approach of war criminals, peace is not being established between Kosovo and Serbia, but the frozen conflict is extending. Peace is decided when guilty are condemned and disarmed, and when the US supports international justice and Kosovo independence, as it has always done. Peace is decided when Serbia recognises independent Kosovo and faces its past. Not when former Milosevic associates who committed aggression committed genocide.
