Takes heavy blows on Kosovo corruption: The citizen who tried to bribe police with just 20 euros is sentenced

The Constitutional Court in Gjilan has declared a condemnation of accused J. M., judging him with 500 (five hundred) Euro fines and 4 (four) months in prison, which sentence with the reconciliation of the side has been replaced in cash in the amount of 1,000 (a thousand) Euro.

The accused on May 28th 2020, about 22:30 minutes, at the border point “and the White Alpha”, at the entrance of the Republic of Kosovo, running the brand truck “Volvo”, stops to conduct border crossing procedures by police and customs officials, and during joint inspection, find the same hidden commercial commodity, unsigned, cosmetic products and text in the truck booth. In this case, accused J. M. It offers 20 euros to the above-mentioned officials, telling them “you make a big deal of this work and together you get 20 euros and drink something, you eat”, with what police official takes a picture of the money and the same confiscated it.

With these actions the accused committed criminal work “bribery”, the act sanctioned with the Penal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (KPRK).

Following the plea of the accused to perform this work, the judge of the Randa Crime Department has pronounced a unique sentence in many 1500 Euros. The sides have the right to appeal to this decision at the Court of Appeals.
