Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on 22nd anniversary of the fall has remembered heroes Bekim Berisha-Abija, Bedri Shala, Elton Zherka, Permet Voula, Bashkim Lek, and Yusuf Kelmendi.
Through a post in his Facebook account, Thaci has praised the figure of these unique warriors, brave and natives who before their lives had the freedom of oppressed people.
Full Posting:
Our braves' contribution to halt the Milosevic regime, in the entire territory of the former Yugoslavia, was always high. Some of these brave men, who heroicly fought Serbia's police and military forces, were Bekim Berisha, Bedri Shala, Elton Zherka and Permet Voula.
Bekim Berisha fought in Croatia and Bosnia, and undoubtedly his Albanian blood would never let him join the KLA ranks and our fair fight for the liberation of Kosovo. With his courage and combat experience, “Abija” made a big contribution to permanently dismiss the Serbian regime's dream of an ethnic Serbia. His merits and heroism are highly valued by the state of Croatia.
Bekim Berisha, Bedri Shala, Elton Zherka and Permet Vula made an unmatched contribution to the KLA war, until the heroic fall 22 years ago, on August 10, 1998, when they joined the martyrs who were sacrificed for Kosovo freedom.
We lost some of the best fighters that day, but their heroic fall only increased the moral and motivation of the KLA soldiers to continue armed resistance until the homeland was freed. HTH
