Igor Grechunshkin was given a long list of questions by Cypriot investigators in Limasssol this afternoon on behalf of Lebanese authorities.
A cargo of 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate, confiscated in 2014 by a Russian-owned ship named Rhosus, was the cause of the terrible explosion Tuesday that led to the death of 135 people and the injuries of 4,000 others.
The explosive material stayed in that warehouse for six years without any security. Cypriot police spokesman Christos andreou said the explosives were seized by Lebanese authorities, and therefore they are responsible for safe storage at the warehouse.
