They were destroyed by “Laura”, Trump in Louisiana and Texas to see the hurricane damage

US President Donald Trump is visiting the coastal areas of Louisiana and Texas in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday that were destroyed by Hurricane Laura, leaving residents without electricity and drinking water as cleaning efforts continue in hot, wet weather. Fourteen people lost their lives when the Catagoria 4 storm destroyed the area early Thursday, with more than half of the victims dying as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning due to the wrong use of power generators.

President Trump first visits Lake Charles in Louisiana, a town of about 80,000 people who was hit hard by Hurricane Laura. According to the Department of Health in Louisiana, more than 220,000 residents in Lake Charles are estimated to be without water.

City Mayor Nic Hunter said water treatment plants “damaged” and warned there is no timeline for restoring electricity.

President Trump will also visit Orange City near Texas, a city of more than 18,000 people in an area where the economy is dependent on chemical plants. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that the area is extremely lucky after Hurricane Laura returned a little to the east, avoiding an unaffordable “ ”, as the meterologists had predicted.

A day before his journey to monitor the damage, President Trump declared Louisiana a zone of natural disaster - a move that makes federal funds available for all five circuits on the direct route of Hurricane Laura.

Locations

As teams continue on the second day of search, rescue and support efforts in Southwestern Louisiana, a clearer view of the damage caused by Hurricane Laura is becoming apparent.

There was a sign of relief as people's lives were not high. So far, the death toll is 14 ʹ but the damage to the populated centres like Lake Charles, an area with a population of 80,000, is huge. Buildings in the centre of the city have been destroyed, entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble, and nearly 900,000 homes and businesses are without power.

Residents are trying to assess the loss of personal property, but it may take days, weeks, or months until many Luizians can return to their homes.

Finding temporary housing after disaster is never easy, but some victims of the storm are saying that the coronary pandemic has made the situation even more difficult.

<x0.>My husband and I are both in the 60s,” said Mary Gutowski, a pensioner who moved to Lake Charles City from Austin, Texas, less than a month ago. I was in the hospital three times last year. We're both very worried about the fact that we're surrounded by people and we can take the virus. But we couldn't stay home with a storm of Catagoria 4 approaching. There was nothing we could do about it”, she says.

Mrs. Gutowski and her husband packed a bag of clothes for several days and masks for their faces and decided to head north in hopes of bypassing the worst from the storm. They were able to avoid the most harmful wind and floods, but evacuation from their home in terms of a global pandemic has also brought challenges they had not anticipated.

Leaving

The “was very disturbing,” told Mrs. Gutowski of America's Voice while trying to hold back his tears.

She said that when they left their home the day before the storm, they had nowhere to go. Mrs. Gutowski and her husband began to drive away, and they immediately noticed that many gas stations were closed because of the coronary, as were many rest stops where they could normally buy supplies or food.

We were lucky to have our car filled with gas before we left or we might not be able to go too far”, she said.

Usually, during natural disasters, cities create urgent shelters. Because of the coronary pandemic, however, there is concern that the virus will spread to such closed places. Instead, the governments of the state of Texas and Louisiana tried to make thousands of hotel rooms available for evacuations. However, individuals have announced that it has been difficult to find cheap hotel rooms.
