A 10-year-old child lost his life in the impact of an ambulance in the mile line of Albanians seeking to travel to Greece.
Hospital authorities in Gjirokastra told America's “Zer” that the ten-year-old child from Lezha was sent lifeless to the hospital during Saturday morning hours.
Gjirokastra police said that the “approach occurred around 10:30, on the Kakaveije national axis '% Gjirokastra, near the bend of the Bularat, where the ambulance that was transporting a sick citizen to the Gjirokastra regional hospital crashed to death on the minor”.
Several thousand Albanian citizens spent the night on the border, while for many families the situation is getting worse as they are spending 48 hours on the border under very difficult conditions, with very high temperatures and food shortages, water and sanitation conditions.
Civil emergency and army forces are offering water and food assistance from Friday evening, but family needs remain large, as the drive is about six miles [10 km] in order and among travelers there are many minors and elderly.
The influx of Albanian immigrants towards Greece entered today on the third day after Greek authorities announced austerity measures entering into force Sunday.
Among these measures is the restriction of 750 per day entering Greece, the forced performance at the molecular analysis limit for “CO VID 19”, conducted in Albania within the 72 hours arch, as well as quarantine for 7 days in Greece.
Albanian citizens have been urging Albanian authorities to negotiate with the Greek government on easing these measures, as they find it difficult to provide tests for COVID 19 and seek to submit to jobs in Greece.
