Kurti and his Finance Minister Besnik Bislimi had said they would consider the possibility that the 30 euro extensions to the pensioners continue, but now that the country has the new government it seems that this is not considered reasonable to happen.
The government Kurti had made the decision on pensions in March when the pandemic took off in Kosovo. Another relief was that pensioners should not physically show up at the respective centers for continued retirement.
But what categories of pensioners benefited from the Kurti Government's decision
The following can be read about the decision on pensions.
“A large number of pension schema beneficiaries benefit monthly bases less than 100 euros. For all these beneficiaries, the government of the Republic of Kosovo will in the next three months allocate an additional 30 euros on a monthly basis. The group mainly benefits the owners of a basic pension scheme, pensions for disabled persons, and beneficiaries of family pensions (all these categories benefit from the decision unless they are simultaneously part of more than a pension scheme from which they receive regular income). They will also be temporarily involved in schemes and will benefit all those who have failed to renew their claims in the first two months of 2020. That means a total of 13m euros extra”.
