Group member “The Roots”, Malik B, has passed away at the age of 47, writes the news.net.

Bandy announced his death Wednesday in the Instagram in a post featuring a photograph of Malik with cofounders of the “The Roots”, Black White and Queenloove.

It can be remembered for his devotion to Islam, his loving brotherhood and his innovation as one of the most talented MCs of all time. We ask that you please respect his family and extended family in our times of mourning for such a large loss”, writes away the “The Roots.”, says the report, but there was no mention of his death.

Malik's death was also confirmed by his cousin Don Champion on Twitter.

Try my dear cousin today. He was so talented and had a big heart. I still remember when he and The Roots were starting”, he wrote.

Malik (full name: Malik Basit was born in Philadelphia and was joined by The Roots, shortly after his partner Black Whitet and drummer Quistlove founded the group in the late 1980s, and he was the only permanent member except the founders for the next few years.

After they failed to draw much attention to Philadelphia, the group moved to London, where they published their first album.
