Regarding the idea for an Albanian prime minister asking the Democratic Union for Integration, North Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski stressed there is no constitutional, political or legal obstacle for the country's prime minister to be Albanian.
“I do not enter into what are their party motives, they are clear to me, but I do not see any obstacle to underlining it as their political request to their potential partners in the future government, if they are in such a situation. What I mean in that context is that so far, the ruling party -- the largest party in the ruling majority -- has always been prime minister with two minor exceptions. The prime minister, according to our position on the political system, is the most powerful political figure, we all know”, adds the head of this state.
Northern Macedonia will hold general elections, in which Albanian parties leading the DUI have joined together seeking an Albanian prime minister.
