Giandan Shaqiri of Granit Jaka has remembered on Monday evening the match that had made all Albanians around the world very proud.
Two major Albanian footballers two years ago had come out of a goal for Switzerland's win over Serbia in the World.
That 2:1 victory, reached in Russia's Kaliningrad, under the World Group phase, was celebrated in almost every Albanian city. The manner of celebrating with eagles after Jaka's goal and then the Shaqiri's had caused a stir. He had troubled two football players, but our joy and pride were far greater.
Serbia had led 1:0 since the fifth minute. Granit Jaka had achieved fine goals in the 52nd minute for 1:1st, while Shaqiri, after running from half the field, defeated the Serbian goalkeeper for Swiss historic victory, widely celebrated by Albanians. Shaqiri had realised in the 90th minute. Valon Behram and Blerim Xhemali had also played for Switzerland.
That victory proved to be crucial for Switzerland, which advanced away. Meanwhile, Serbia has been eliminated since the group stage.
Jaka's Shaqiri have commemorated that social networking post fight on Monday evening.
Two years ago it was a special day for me. One of the best goals I've ever scored. Time goes by, but memories always remain”, Jaka wrote.
