Deputy Minister of Jobs Foreign and Diaspora Bekim Brestovci, in a long text published in his account at “Facebook”, has confessed to his 1993 trip to Germany and return to Kosovo to serve the country.

Brestovci writes that from the first day of his departure, he had decided to keep my shoes off so I could make it one day into the shoes of my return - to return you with the same shoes.

Now, after 25 years, after many challenges as personal as well as the challenges we've faced as a nation, I've been given the opportunity to realize the dream that I've had the day that I started my journey to leave. Kosovo, the dream of following the steps of my parents, the dream of serving my country”, has written among other things.

Complete Brestovci Posting:

Fulfilling the promise, the diaspora already part of institutions.

It was 1993 when I was persecuted by the Serb conqueror was forced to leave my homeland, ending up in the state of Germany as asylum seekers. Even though it was hard to know that when I could go back to the country, but the wish and purpose didn't go away, so, from the first day of my departure I decided that my escape shoes would save them one day to turn back to my home shoes, so to return you with the same shoes my country.

So, in the first steps I have taken to leave Kosovo, but in those steps I have made the decision to come back here, to work and contribute here, to serve this country, to follow the steps of my parents' teachers.

It was this promise that I gave to myself at that time, that one day I will return, and I will not spend my life in exile, but I will gain experience and know that I will serve my country at a better time.

Now, 25 years from now, after many challenges as personal as well as the challenges we've faced as a nation, I've been given the opportunity to realize the dream I've had the day that I started my journey to leave. Kosovo, the dream of following the steps of my parents, the dream of serving my country.

My dream of serving the country has not stopped even in the flow of work during my exile. Always working for family in Germany and in Kosovo, with the possibilities I've been working for the country from exile. Meanwhile, I have evolved and operated the Albanian-German Business Union. As the executive director of the Albanian-German Union of Business, this most powerful economic organisation of Albanians across the globe offered me the opportunity to contribute to the unification of Albanian business potential in Germany, but also contribute to the creation of businesspeople and producers from Kosovo with Albanian business businessmen in Germany, thus helping export Kosovo goods and services towards the German market.

During my term at the helm of this organism, I have seen closely the needs of the economy Kosovo, and I have tried to be the bridge to address these needs. I initiated a lot of project during my mandate at the Union of Albanian-German businesses. Projects that have had little impact on the sensationalisation of the Albanian diaspora, Albanian businesses in exile with the Kosovo worker, with Kosovo's production and the Kosovo economy in general.

It was September 2018 when I finally decided to fulfill my promise, and with those 1993 escape shoes, my family and I returned to live and acted on it Kosovo.

While during my stay in Germany, Kosovo was my only concern, now with my return it was the Diaspora community who was turning into one of my main threats every day.

The strong desire to contribute my country to one side, bringing my life experience from Germany as well as my desire to represent the Diaspora community in active political life, policymaking, and the institutions of the Republic Kosovo made me think about my direct key to any of the political subjects

In 2019, seeing the extraordinary opportunity I have received from the political subject NISMA Social Democrat, I am back in the dream of my first trip, so I have been given the opportunity to serve my country, my people, actively engaging in politics. On drafting the electoral program NISMA has given my ideas for the involvement of the diaspora in policy and especially economic decision-making. These ideas that have been embraced and injected into that program. So, knowing the economic potential of the Albanian diaspora in general and Kosovo in particular, I have been and am convinced that with a commitment, sincerity and non-stop work can change the direction of the economy Kosovo, taking advantage of the economic opportunities and especially the homeland of our countrymen.

Therefore, today I am proud that the promise I gave during the 2019 elections that the diaspora will be part of institutions has been realised. Now, it's time to live the dream, for the country's service, which will be a dream of economic, social and integration of our country.

Today, as deputy minister Ministry Jobs Foreign and Diaspore of Republic of Kosovo has set several goals for itself. These goals you thought would bring us a step closer to that necessary development of our country. We'll always be the voice of the diaspora in Government, for any complaint of their suggestion, I'll be there to address them, so that our country will be the one for which those fellow countrymen who live outside, and we who live here have always worked and dreamed of. I will commit our diaspora to be the biggest investor in the country's development, because I think those who are among the biggest investors in freedom. Kosovo should also be its biggest development investors.

Independent part of political and economic programme NISMA has been and is protecting local production, opening new markets and increasing exports. In this regard, there has been an extraordinary work done by the government of the past, most specifically by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. In this respect, I will take concrete steps that this job already began to take to another level. Fortunately, the EU countries in which an outstanding majority of our diaspora live are even the biggest markets in the world. The EU, therefore, with close co-operation with our people in Germany, Austria and after signing the agreement with the EFTA countries and Switzerland we will have the opportunity to increase the export of Kosovo producers. Because, by consuming our products, we help our economy, and this will be an additional message that will be delivered to the Albanian community in the diaspora.

We're a new country, unfortunately we've wasted a lot of time developing, and it's not because of our fault, but because of the history we've been through. Now, we have the opportunity to make our own country, with sweat, commitment and knowledge. We must seize the extraordinary human capital that has been created in the last two decades in the diaspora. We have extraordinary human resources in Western countries, educated and professional in different schools, who are willing to contribute to their country's development. So far they've been denied this opportunity, so I, in my capacity, will engage in this opportunity to be open to anyone who will return to contribute to their country. Kosovo needs these young men and women of various professions, and I will be there to cut them open, so that you can jointly support and advance our country.

These 20 years in freedom and 12 years in independence, we have heard many words about the diaspora, but none of those words and promises have been fulfilled. We have shown that we are true to our word of promise. My appointment is a fact, it's already time to make my dream come true, but many of my friends and friends in Kosovo and the diaspora, serving the country as it deserves, despite intellectual and human capacity. We only have one country. Kosovo.
