Authorities describe the situation as “serious and complex”. Several hundred new cases of infection in Beijing for a little more than two weeks are sparking fears of another wave of infection, Kosovo Prees broadcast.
The city administration has already launched a major testing campaign and called on Beijing residents not to leave the capital, declaring quarantine for thousands of people in dangerous areas.
Local authorities today announced the introduction of quarantine at Canton Anxing, about 60 miles [60 km] south of Beijing in the northern province of Hebei, where 11 new cases were recorded after the outbreak was reopened, writes the semi-official Chinese newspaper Global Times.
Only one person in the family can go out to buy food and medicine in one day.
The Chinese Health Ministry announced today that 14 new cases were in Beijing in the past 24 hours, so their total number increased to 311 after the epidemic spread again.
The hot wine was discovered in Xinfadi, a large market in the south of town. Most shopping malls and restaurants in Beijing are supplied with fruits and vegetables.
A third of the new cases reported so far concern a part of the calf and sheep market, the city's leaders said at a press conference.
“epidemiological situation in the capital is heavy and complex,” said Xu Hayan, a spokesman for the city government.
Of the total of 8.3 million samples taken, 7.7 million tests have been conducted so far, the city government announced.
