Lamir Thaci, AUV spokesman, has said that currently in Kosovo there is no case with this bird disease.
“The AUV does only passive monitoring of this disease when we have health problems or doubts about the presence of New Castle on farms then samples for laboratory tests are taken in this disease, at the moment Kosovo is free of Nee Castle” disease, Thaci says, writes Express.
Thaci said this bird disease has been widespread in Kosovo during 2003.
This disease has been present in Kosovo in 2003, in the municipality of Gjakova. From this time on, for several years we have applied vaccine campaigns against this disease, and we have not had a positive case in the disease since. The AUV has a duty and consistently submits the situation about the presence of this disease in countries that present the” disease, Thaci said.
He has announced that this bird disease has erupted in northern Macedonia. For this reason, Kosovo has banned import from this state.
“According to the Veterinary Law 21/2004, AUV is obliged to stop importing from countries infected with animal or bird diseases, according to the first program of infectious diseases released by this law. AUV out of 13,05.2020 has ruled on the measure of temporary ban, for birds and sub-productive products of birds for the Republic of Northern Macedonia”, Thaci said.
Thaci said AUV has conducted registration of all basket farms in Kosovo, where they are all equipped with the code or the number of the farm, which is also placed in the egg through their sealing.
