Beyoncé Knowles Carter and her husband Jay-Z are charged with not giving author to Jamaican artist for her contribution to their “Black Effect”.
Lenora Antoinette Stines filed charges Tuesday at the California District Court to compensate for copyright violations, copyright and unfair enrichment.
The indictment is focused on “Black Effect” from the pair's joint album in 2018, “Everything is love”.
Jay-Z's legal name is Shawn Carter and the album is entrusted to “The Carters”.
According to the indictment, a copy of which Stinis “is 68 years old and she is extremely respected and highly regarded on Jamaica Island and worldwide for her artistic activity and wisdom”.
Stinas claims she approached Jamaica by the couple in March 2018 to help get dancers for a video destined to promote their album and tour.
Stins, who uses the title “Dr.” in the indictment, said she supplied several dancers for the video and was also asked to talk about her thoughts on love on video.
When Dr. Stins asked about the terms of the agreement, she was told that the agreement was only a standard document that all should sign”, said the request. Then she was told not to worry, because the agreement would only be used so that her voice could be used in video”.
When they wanted to take a picture of the deal to send the boy, they refused, broadcast the news.
The indictment, among other things, says Stins had made sure that the record “will be used only on video, which was said to be for promotional purposes”.
So the two were indicted for unauthorized exploitation of its voice in a “Black Effect” song.
