This extraordinary and unprecedented action is intended to bring the semi-autonom territory under control.
On Wednesday, China's National People's Congress voted on a decision that paves the way for anti-resurrection laws to apply directly to Hong Kong, writes The Guardian, translated Periscope.
This law, which stormed the ban on protests that took place in Hong Kong throughout the past year, would make subversion of separatism illegal by classifying it as “acts of external intervention” and terrorism. These charges are used in China to silence dissidents and other political officers.
This legislation, described as the “deathbath” for Hong Kong, would allow Beijing to deploy security forces in the city to operate freely. /Periscope
