Government sources in Afghanistan say at least 20 officials working at Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani's palace have proved positive in the COVID-19 test.
This has caused the 70-year-old leader to limit most of his contact with the staff and to develop it online.
A contaminated document was sent to an office inside the palace by another government department, and that was how employees were infected”, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Sediq Sediqqi, the president's spokesman, said the Civil Service Commission has already asked government employees to stay at home.
So far, 933 cases of the infected have been confirmed in Afghanistan, while 30 people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University data in the United States.
Afghan health officials say «due to limited tests, the number of cases is likely to be much higher than reported.
The Health Ministry in Afghanistan has warned that unless the country improves its control measures, the country is heading towards a catastrophe in which millions can become infected.
