The Kosovo government today has removed fences around the prime minister's facility, and Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu in a brief interview for Euronews Albania, has said this has been the idea of Prime Minister Kurti, that citizens have no obstacles to the institutions.
Haxhiu, speaking on the subject, said that even in the ministry she leads, there is no siege, and therefore they have decided to install this logic for other institutions.
“actually this has been an idea of Prime Minister Kurti that Kosovo institutions are without obstacles to citizens. I am currently in the Ministry of Justice, and this ministry has no siege. It means citizens can come in without any obstacle. That's why we insisted on installing it in other institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, so that the shields are not there, because we don't need to be afraid of citizens. If we make mistakes, of course there will be accountability, but citizens should have no obstacles to approach institutions”, incumbent Albulen Haxhiu has said.
Prime Minister Kurti has spoken about the issue at a news conference. He has said that despite the police recommendation that these sieges not be removed, the interior minister's task officer with his team in the ministry has assessed that there is no security threat and they have been removed.
According to the prime minister, this has been the earliest idea, and perhaps they have been delayed in removing them, but there is no need for any security concerns.
