President UEFA, Alexander Ceferin, has confirmed that August 3rd is the latest possible date for the 2019/20 Champions League final.
Coronavirus Pandemia has long since caused sports throughout the world to be suspended, but the European football system has been affected on an unprecedented scale so far.
Many of the main leagues have been suspended indefinitely and this ban has forced U n EFA postpones the 2020 European Championship for a year, giving a little more time to the club season to complete.
The goal is for the 2019/20 season to be completed before the end of July, but this seems hard to reach, prompting debate over what will happen if the pandemic does not stop.
The Chepher has tried to provide clarity about the League of Champions and the League of Europe, which will be completely annulled if they are not completed by early August.
The World Champions League and the European League must be completed by August 3rd”, Cefer told German broadcaster ZDF.
We're in a state of emergency, so we're flexible about dates and fight hours. If the crisis decreases earlier, then we can start early. We can play the current system or a neutral field fight. Right now it's only option”, he stressed.
