Since confirming the first cases in Kosovo with Coronavirus and the interruption of many activities, the first damage to the local economy has been observed.
Although Kosovo authorities have not so far presented any concrete plans for the recovery of the economy, connoisseurs of this area, they say saving the economy can only make one plan-mask.
Kosovo Tax Administration Director (ATK), Ilir Murtezaj, has said in an interview for Online Economics that from the extension of the deadline for statements and taxes on the tax, the state budget has lost 13m euros.
This situation created in addition to the health aspect, of course the major consequences will be economically, where it is known that in addition to the state budget that will undoubtedly infect, much higher impact is expected to be on the economic sector, directly to companies that exploit economic activity”.
For us as ATK, just these days during March, as a result of delaying the deadline for statements and taxes, we have less revenues for 13m euros. But if this age of pandemic is prolonged, the consequences will certainly still be higher”, he has said.
But economics connoisseur Safet Gerjaliu has said Kosovo needs a plan to save its economy, a plan that was promoted days ago by the European Commission as well.
I've been saying it a few days ago and definitely my analysis has prompted me to publish an article where Kosovo definitely has to prepare for a plan-marshall, which is also proven by the European Commission, which will be a bit different from the one in 1948 after World War II”.
“You know that the pandemic effects will be huge, the economy will be destroyed, and in this direction economic recovery will be the priorities of European countries and beyond, and in this direction Kosovo should be part of such a” plan, Gerjaliu has said, reports EO.
It should be known that those tools will be separated from through partnership with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the BERZh and many other financial institutions, I believe we should prepare to be argumentative, have facts and absorb more from these options”.
What damages Kosovo's reality is that two years we've had failed reports with creditable financial institutions like the IMF and the World Bank, so we haven't had contractual reports and you see how important partnership is with these” institutions, he said.
