During this visit to Washington, Vuciq has conducted an interview for Foreign Policy, to discuss, among other things, Serbia-Kosovo relations.
In that direction, Telegrafi conveys, talking about future steps in relation to Kosovo, Vuciq has said he hopes Kosovo will remove the tax, and this, according to him, will happen due to American pressure.
Otherwise, he considers Vuciq, Kosovo would never remove the tax.
I don't see how the whole process should end, what would be the substance of a possible final solution that someone could propose to us. I look forward to creating better economic ties when we start to understand each other better. And we need a dialogue to achieve it. We need more talks”, Vuciq said.
While in the question of whether Kosovo would remove the tax on Serbian products, would Serbia respond with halting the campaign to withdraw recognition of Kosovo, the Serbian president has said:
“... We just have to get back to the same positions we had before they set the fees. And I think it's very logical to tell you the truth. I understand [decision] for a real dialogue and understand the necessity of resolving the problem, which is not easy for me to say, because if you ask the overwhelming majority of people in Serbia, they would prefer a frozen conflict. I do not belong to that overwhelming majority”.
The Serbian president has been asked about what would be a solution to the situation with Kosovo, which he thinks would be acceptable to him and which he thinks could take “to the Serbian public.
In this direction, Vuciq has said it must continue with dialogue and with all the efforts needed to find a possible compromise.
And again, I don't know how it might look, but it should be done in a way that would be a loss for both sides, so that it would be a small victory for both sides. We both have to get guarantees for a much better, much better future”.
