The contract has been reached for the 2020 Olympics to be postponed until the summer of 2021.
The news was delivered by the International Olympic Committee (KON), which through a media communiqué, explained the compatibility reached after a telephone conversation between KON President Thomas Bach and Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe.
The two leaders Bach and Abe agreed that based on information provided by the World Health Organization, they agreed that the XXII Olympics should be held on another date after 2020, but not later than the summer of 2021 in order to preserve the health of athletes and all those involved in the Olympic Games.
The leaders also agreed that the Olympics and the Olympics will be called Tokyo 2020, while the Olympic Flame will remain in Japan.
According to KON's announcement, the Tokyo Olympics will serve as a beacon of hope for the world during these difficult times and that Olympic flame can become a light at the end of the tunnel.
The postponement comes from the heat of the Coronavirius Covid-19, which has engulfed the world.
