Dietmar Hopp is a very successful German entrepreneur. After graduating from university as a certified engineer, Hopp worked for several years as software developer and system consultant at the company “IBM”
In 1972 he and four other associates decided to leave “IBM”, establishing software company “SAP”, where Hopp served as chairman for a decade (1988-1998). “SAP” eventually managed to become the third largest group in the world after companies “Microsofft” and “Oracle”.
In 1995, it founded the “Dietmar Hopp” Foundation, which has made about 600m euros in charitable donations, mainly in the fields of sports, medicine, education and social services.
