Deputy Prime Minister Hoti: No Government Breaks Up for a Tax

The United States of America has significantly increased pressure to remove the tax on Serbian and Bosnian goods. The US, too, is not supporting Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's plan for the tax to be removed only for raw materials. Meanwhile, Kosovo's first Deputy Prime Minister from LDK ranks Avdullah Hoti [...]

Meanwhile, the first Deputy Prime Minister in the Government of Kosovo, from LDK ranks, Avdullah Hoti, said preserving and deepening their partnership with the US is one of the fundamental principles of their coalition. This says that even the reciprocity measure should be put in co-operation with them.

In terms of the tax issue, there are also differences between the ruling coalition partners, the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo, but despite that it seems that the two parties have no alternative but to find common language on major Kosovo topics.

Hoti voiced confidence that for the full removal of the tax, they will have reconciliation with the ruling partner, Vetevendosje Movement.

“We have a coalition agreement on that agreement are also the principles on which we co-govern. In all parts of the programme, they submit to the principles of co-operation we have as two parties in the coalition. Among the main principles is the preservation and deepening of partnerships with international friends. Strategic partners like the US and key countries within the EU. I am convinced that they will find a common language that the actions we take in Government will be in line with these principles of our co-operation as two parties... the tax must be removed and reciprocity measures will be imposed only in co-operation, close agreement with our strategic partners”, he says.

While it should be remembered that in the media during yesterday it was reported on sanctions against Kosovo if the tax does not fully depart.

It has also been reported today that the US has proposed to review the presence of military troops in Kosovo.
