Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared that despite the difficulties the ruling coalition is going through, he will not interrupt his work and stop before the obstacles.
Kosovo's government has suffered fluctuations, due to disagreements that have emerged between the two coalition partners, the Vetevendosje and the Democratic League of Kosovo.
Following Kurt's decision to dismiss Agim Veliun from the post of Minister of Internal Affairs and Public Administration, which comes from the ranks of the Democratic League of Kosovo, it has initiated and prosecuted the no-confidence motion on the government in the Kosovo Assembly.
The motion initiated by LDK for the collapse of Prime Minister Kurti's government has received the backing of all opposition parties.
Prime Minister Kurti, during a media conference Saturday, regarding the government's commitments and measures in the fight against the COVIID-19 virus, known as the new coronobus, has declared that since the LDK's initiative for no-confidence motion so far, it has not met with representatives of opposition parties.
No, I haven't. We haven't talked about this. We are fully devoted to our work in this situation, when public health is first and foremost. My concern is not last week, in the political sense, but the next week in the health sense”, Kurti said.
The Democratic League of Kosovo has asked Prime Minister Kurti to return Minister Agim Veliu to his former position, as well as to completely lift the 100 per cent fee on products of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prime Minister Kurti, at least so far, has refused Veliu's return to the government, meanwhile, from March 21st, has started implementing the 100 per cent tariff removal decision imported by Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the other hand, the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has told local media that this whole situation has come after Prime Minister Kurti is close to himself, as he has called it, some coditator “”.
I think if it wasn't for Mr. Kurt, some of the lyres around him, who interpret things like this, we wouldn't have come into this situation where we are”, Mustafa said.
Recognitions of political developments estimate that the political situation created as a result of clashes within the ruling coalition is completely meaningless for Kosovo citizens, in the current situation with corruption.
Political Affairs analyst Artan Muhhaxhiri, speaking of Radio Free Europe, says the opinion that on the basis of statements both representatives of the ruling coalition partners, Vetevendosje and LDK, the rift created between them is too big.
“There is an insurmountable moat, because there is no indication that their positions could be turned back, significantly Prime Minister Kurti's decision to sack Agim Veliu or LDK accession to continue co-governing without Veliu's presence in the government. On the basis of statements, there is no way to seek a middle road, and, according to all likelihood, will be prosecuted by the no-confidence motion in the Kosovo Assembly”, Muhrami has said.
According to him, taking into account the LDK's mood, but also opposition parties, if the Kosovo Parliament session is held for the motion of no confidence in the government, there will be no problem in securing the majority of votes (61 votes) for passing the no-confidence motion.
However, according to him, paradoxically it may be the only obstacle not to the government falling.
The “in the Kosovo Assembly cannot be respected social distance between MPs, so there is also the possibility that the session will be postponed on technical issues or eventually required any other space, which in this emergency situation could replace the Kosovo Assembly space. So, to move this meeting to another environment, which would enable social distance compliance from 1.5 to 2m apart from each other”, Muhramiri said.
Kosovo's health institutions are being brought into line with the World Health Organization rules, which as a preventive measure against the spread of corruption, do not predict human gatherings.
Valbon Krasniqi, infected at the Infectious Clinic, has earlier told Radio Free Europe that respect for social distance is a recommendation for all Kosovo citizens to prevent further spread of infection and that rules apply to all.
Prime Minister Kurti, on March 18th, has dismissed Agim Veliun from the post of Minister of Internal Affairs and Public Administration, with the reasoning that Veliu had declared “against the position of the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo on declaring the state of emergency” due to the coronary situation. Similarly, according to Kurti, Veliu has spread panic, saying that the number of affected people is growing from hour to hour”.
For more, a day earlier, on March 17th, the announcement of the state of emergency had also recommended LDK leader Isa Mustafa himself. The same day, in the evening, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, in a press conference, said he would propose in the Kosovo Assembly the decree of declaring the state of emergency, following the situation created with the explosion of the new coronavirus.
