Kosovo and Serbia have suspended talks on reaching a final agreement between the two countries.
Pristina-Belgrade dialogue has stalled as a result of Serbia's aggressive campaign against recognising Kosovo's independence, where Kosovo responded in November 2018 imposed a 100 per cent tax on products coming from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Apart from the European Union's continued mediation about Pristina's=Belgrade dialogue, the United States has recently been activated in this process, which US Ambassador to Berlin Richard Green is once also the emissary of American President Donald Trump for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue. Richard Green recently received a new assignment from Trump, that of the head of National Intelligence.
The US through its envoy Green I has repeatedly called on the Kosovo side to lift the tax on Serbian products, while also asking Serbia to halt the recognition campaign so they can return to the negotiating table.
Richard Green's dynamism has resulted in three agreements between Kosovo and Serbia, the one for airlines, railways and highways.
For finalising the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia this year, even the country's president Hashim Thaci, who sees it as a matter of very urgency. Thaci has stated that if the agreement is not reached this year, both countries could waste time for decades, and that they will weep in front of Brussels' doors but that no one will worry about it.
Unlike the president, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti does not take the dialogue with Serbia very hastily, saying the fight of corruption and economic development in its priorities is not much of a dialogue with Belgrade.
Kurti has said she will remove the tax on Serbia, but that she will impose reciprocity before her removal.
Periscope, meanwhile, has asked Richard Green's office in Berlin about the likelihood of reaching the final agreement with Serbia, referring to the Green dynamic to this process.
In a response to Periscope, Richard Grenerll's spokesman, has said it will depend on representatives of both countries, those of Kosovo and Serbia.
The success of the talks depends on representatives from Kosovo and Serbia”, Periscopi's special envoy for Serbia dialogue official Dick Custin, told Perisop.
We remember that the White House's commitment to reaching the normalisation agreement has been openly expressed by US President Donald Trump. He had in December 2018 sent letters to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbia's Aleksandar Vuciq for reaching a peaceful agreement. Trump had even expressed his desire to both go to the White House to sign this agreement. /Periscope.
