The agreement, due to be signed in Qatar later today, aims to pave the way for peace in Afghanistan after more than 18 years of conflict.
Talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban will follow suit.
The “coalition will complete the withdrawal of their remaining forces from Afghanistan within 14 months after the proclamation of this joint statement and the US-Talibane” agreement, the statement issued by the US and Afghanistan said.
The US invaded Afghanistan several weeks after the September 2001 attacks by the Afghanistan-based al-Qaeda group, the BBC writes.
More than 2400 American troops were killed during the conflict. About 12,000 are still in place. President Trump has promised to end the conflict.
