On the evening of February 4th, the Payne Community was hit by strong winds that caused huge material damage, but fortunately no injuries. Also, there was considerable damage to the electricity network but also to the supply of drinking water.
Approximately the damage in the Peja municipality, with the district in the municipality's public property facilities, has been estimated to total over 500 thousand euros.
So has made it known about Telegrafi, the spokesman for the Peja municipality, Engelbert Zefaj, who announced that the municipality has created emergency headquarters to deal with problems caused by strong winds that hit Pec on two nights of 04th and February 05th 2020.
“Staff has shared tasks for each director and they are now dealing with identification of the damage caused in the facilities and public properties. According to first information, huge damage has been found in 9 schools in the Pec municipality, sports facilities and agricultural projects. We still don't have final financial calculations, but in all likelihood the damage to the facilities and public properties (of the municipality) total over 500,000 euros”.
But this figure has been found only for the damage caused in public objects, while for private ones the exact figures are still not known, since citizens in the municipality are still being reported on damage caused by the winds.
Emergency management is collecting information on damage done in the private and business sector. There are hundreds of subjects that have so far arrived on the part of citizens and businesses who report considerable damage. Mostly the major damage is on the roof of houses, stables, factories, and various workers. There are also substances which report damage to private wealth such as vehicles and the area”, Zefaj said.
In fact, he says that there are many families who are concerned about the fact that they have no roof over their heads.
A lot of families are concerned that their living is difficult because they have been left without a peak on their heads and fear that they are beginning to resurface and make their living more difficult”, Zefaj said.
