Experts initially claimed that the spread of COVID-19 would follow the same trajectory as the SARS explosion in 2002/3, because viruses are almost genetically identical, the Telegrafi broadcast.
But they have discovered the way it relates to cells in the human body, which are similar to HIV and Ebola, only much more aggressive.
That makes the disease, to be 100 to 1,000 times the most harmful of the SARS, scientists claim.
THE SARS, or severe respiratory disease syndrome, infected 8,000 people worldwide and left 774 people dead within 2002.
Until only two months have passed, the coronavirus has infected 82 thousand people, until nearly three thousand of them survived.
Nankai University researchers looked at the COVID-19 genome sequence and found part of the genes that had undergone changes that did not exist in SARS.
