The Kosovo Police Inspectorate had accepted information through operational routes that two suspects -- police officials at the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption -- may be involved in illegal activities.
Based on this information, IPK investigators in co-ordination with the competent prosecutor began to take investigative and operational action, including secret investigation measures against two police officials and a citizen.
Based on evidence and evidence collected as well as on the Pristina Constitutional Court order last night in Pristina, the operation, codenamed “Reyshfet”, which resulted in the arrest in the wake of a police official and a citizen.
The police official with the initials L.O., has been arrested by IPK investigators on suspicion that the same has committed the same criminal act “Bribe taking” and “Use of official position or authority”.
In the course of investigative actions, the operation “Ryschete” has continued with raids on two different locations, one in Pristina and the other in Vushtrri, where considerable evidence has been found and another police suspect has been arrested with initial L. M, police sergeant at the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption.
The police sergeant has been arrested on suspicion that the same was committed in the criminal work “taking bribes”, “Use official position or authority” and “holding possession, control or possession of weapons”.
Those arrested in this case by the prosecutor's decision-led Police Inspectorate have been assigned the detention measure for 48 hours.
Further investigative actions in this case reportedly will continue by IPK investigators in continued consultation with the prosecutor responsible.
