According to foreign media, the population affected by the disease was a 62-year-old woman and a 75-year-old male patient lived on separate floors of the building, causing fear that the virus could be transmitted through water pipes.
The Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection said they were investigating whether both cases were linked or not and called on residents to clean and disinfect pipes and remove toilet lids before releasing water.
Such fear, it is further said, stems from a Hong Kong experience, from memories of the SARS explosion in 2003 that killed over 100 people in the region.
More than 300 of Hong Kong's SARS cases had been linked to a large apartment complex, in which the virus spread through the sewer system and pollution of the environment, an investigation by the Hong Kong government revealed.
With expert recommendation, the government has placed in quarantine residents living in all entities on 30 separate floors.
Coronavius officially called COVID-19 was reported for the first time in late December in Wwan, China.
Currently, there are 50 cases of the virus in Hong Kong, and people coming from China's territory are required to enter quarantine for 14 days.
