Data from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CCDC) found that in more than 80% of the most endangered cases are the sick and elderly, reports the BBC.
The study also shows the high risk for medical personnel.
The findings set the overall level of death of the Cavid 19 virus to 2.3%.
In Hubei, the most affected province, the death rate is 2.9% compared to only 0.4% in the rest of the country.
The latest official figures of China released on Tuesday place the total number of deaths at 1,868 and 72,436 infected.
