According to the World Health Organization (OBSH), each year 8.8 million people die from cancer, most in low and medium income countries.
Even in Kosovo, it is not a better situation. In recent years the number of people affected by cancer has increased.
Through the company of steps to implement WHO's new guidance, health care planners can improve early diagnosis of cancer and ensure immediate treatment, especially for breast cancer, cervix and hortictial types. This will result in more people surviving cancer.
All countries can take steps to improve early diagnosis of cancer, according to WHO's new Guide for early diagnosis of cancer are:
Improving public awareness of symptoms of various types of cancer and encouraging people to seek care when those symptoms are presented.
Investment in the empowerment and equipment of health services and training of health professionals so that they can conduct precise and timely diagnosis.
Making sure that people who live with cancer can approach safe and effective treatment, including ease of pain, without experiencing physical or financial restraint.
Otherwise, the Oncology Clinic and the Association of Kosovo Oncologists (SHOK) will mark this day with an activity.
Also, former President Atifete Jahjaga will visit the association of breast cancer patients “Renesa” in Prizren.
