The Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (QKSS) in co-operation with the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) has organised the conference “Finalza: Resumption of the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue”, where the findings of the Kosovar Security Barometers report were published, the special edition on Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, reports Online Economics.
It said corruption is perceived as the highest risk to Kosovo's national security. Unemployment ranks second, meanwhile, organised crime ranks third among the risks to national security.
Plator Avdiu researchers at the QKSS, said that on the basis of research, it turns out that corruption, unemployment and Serbia are the biggest riskers in Kosovo.
According to him, 80 per cent of Albanians think Kosovo risks territorial division.
“Citizens have been asked what threatens national security. Corruption, unemployment and Serbia are the biggest national security riskers, according to respondents”.
“Citizens still think partitioning Kosovo and association are among the other national security risks. 80 per cent of Albanians still think Kosovo risks territorial division. Another danger according to citizens is the association of Serbian municipalities”, he said.
As for the tax on Serbian and Bosnian products, respondents have different positions. Some of them think it has to be removed, and some of them want to keep the tax going.
“35 percent think the tax should remain in force, while 33 percent of respondents think the tax should be replaced with full reciprocity against Serbia. Meanwhile, the rest think the tariffs should be removed as a whole”, Avdiu said.
As for dialogue, Avdiu said over 50 percent of respondents think dialogue should resume.
He said there are respondents who think dialogue should be conditioned with mutual recognition.
Vetevendosje Movement MP Victory Pacolli has said that seeing the risks in Kosovo such as corruption and unemployment, VV's victory was not random.
If we start with the report's presentation, we see that most respondents think the potential risk is corruption and unemployment. Citizens have this perception because they experience each day at work at school, every day of their life”.
