Albania's former Foreign Minister, historian Pascal Milo, commenting on Euronews Albania, recent developments with the trial being made to former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders (UÇK), named the situation unstable as having an approach to its former political leadership and a shift of attention to electoral issues in Kosovo.
“Today Kosovo needs unity, unification of those who love Kosovo, and must get it out of this serious situation. S'e helps get out of this situation following charges against Thaci, Wessel... who are in the dock of the accused. For me, Vetevendosje's approach that moves attention from a central issue dealing with Kosovo's existence, for electoral and power's account is the wrong approach,” former Prime Minister Milo said.
In his comment, Milo addressed the activities of the Vetevendosje Movement, Elvis Hoxha, who openly voiced criticism against the way it was acted in recent years, which with dialogue at the technical level, allowing parallel institutions in northern Kosovo, but also establishing a court like Special Court, which has authority for war and is outside Kosovo.
Hoxha insisted that the “main aim is to corrupt Kosovo's war and independence”, and for that it would be necessary “to restore the legitimacy of key institutions” meaning here the country's going to early elections.
The [actual] government is illegal because it is done with the vote of a person who should be in prison rather than in parliament, the other president has met him at night and he gave him the vote,” Hoxha said, stressing that the <x2-elections are more than normal for a democratic country”.
But that's exactly what former Prime Minister Milo opposed, insisting that this way of seeing things about the situation Kosovo is going through will not bring positive developments.
“I have sympathy for Vetevendosje and its chairman, I have been expressing this since I was foreign minister in 1997 when Albin [the Kurti] was a young man and secretary of Adem Demac. But now I have to insist that Vetevendosje has a wrong approach for me... I want you to call on being realistic, not just you in Kosovo, not all are corrupt, not all are linked to crime, there are other parties individuals and honest personalities that have to be united, and that you have to deal with the current situation in a short period of time, and then you go to elections that the other side of the street, ” said further Milo.
Former Albanian Prime Minister Milo further applied to Vetevendosje event Hoxha, insisting that “is a youth political error urging Kosovo to go to early elections in such a situation”.
“You have a political crisis of many years, you are able, despite polls, even if you come to the top, for the situation that Kosovo has, you will find it very difficult to achieve the goals you have, you need to understand this,” further appealed Milo.
“In reflection of this situation [with trial against The KLA] needs to sit down with representatives of other parties and you [Vetevendosje] can take on more roles and only thus can you cope with the situation,” Milo further said, suggesting that only the unity and political co-operation between the parties can cause Kosovo to deal with the political crisis that is being put before it.
Milo voiced opposition to efforts that within the six months currently being headed temporarily by Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani, political parties to elect another president.
He advised that the parties establish a national unity government, face the crisis facing the state and the society of Kosovo, be co-ordinated for establishing an election date and the parties work together to give stability to the country.
